ICEM DDN Version 3.4.01 Released on UNIX and NT

ICEM DDN Version 3.4.01 is now shipping on both UNIX and Windows NT. This release contains many enhancements and improvements, including:

Design/Drafting

• Active Region modification, with improved accessibility via the Info Bar
• Imaging Tools support for TIFF on Windows platforms
• Interactive File and Directory Browser
• Part Attributes (store textual data about the part in "name/value" pairs maintained within the part)
• Paste text into DDN (use the Insert key to paste text copied from another window or application directly into DDN at any alphanumeric prompt)
• Key-in editor added to display dynamics' "step mode" option
• Create line entities from display data
• New Track Plane display options
• Shared binary parts between UNIX and Windows platforms (supported back to V2.1)
• Print Screen key (allows all or part of the current DDN drawing to be copied to an external file in RGB format)
• DIN character sets now include Greek micron character
• GPL WINCMD statement permits GPL programs to issue Windows commands
• GPL SELECT statement enhanced to allow selection of implicit and dynamic points
• All ICEM DDN reference manuals are now available in both PDF and HTML formats (English and German language versions supported)

Advanced Design (Curves and Surfaces)

• TIFF background images can now be displayed when dynamically modifying the control points of B-spline curves and surfaces
• New Curvature Diagnosis capabilities in Data Verify
• Metacurve Editor now supports creation of open metacurves
• Metacurve Editor now supports modification of closed metacurves

Numerical Control

• NC Absolute Tool Motion Module - toolpath geometry based on either tool-tip or tool-center coordinates
• NC ASM Finishing Module - 5 Axis Milling with respect to specified lead/lag and right/left control angles
• NC ASM Finishing Module - table of base stocks generates multiple toolpaths
• NC ASM Finishing Module - create stereo lithography from existing fecet model
• NC ASM Finishing Module - table of machining data names generates multiple toolpaths
• NC Identify Toolpath - dynamic highlighting of displayed toolpaths

Translators

• Multiple IGES translation sessions (concurrent execution in same directory)
• Numerous DXF improvements, including support for DXF LWPOLYLINE, XLINE, and RAY entity types, and increased color mapping
