ICEM DDN Version 5.0 Released

The following sections briefly describe the most relevant changes andenhancements in ICEM DDN 5.0 (2001211). For adetailed description please refer to Chapter 4 of the "User ReleaseBulletin".

General Enhancements

Modal for Switching Tooltip On/Off — A new global modal to switch on/offthe Tooltip (Balloon) feature has been introduced. Changes will be validuntil the end of your current session. Permanent changes, if desired,need to be defined in the preset modal file.

Breaking a Curve at a Point Using Point Interrupt — To break a curve ata point you can use the interrupt function for points. You can invokethe function including dynamic point interrupt when the system asks youto select a point where the curve is to be segmented.

User-Selected Entity Export — It is now possible to select individualentities for the export to various part file formats. You may eitherexport the entire part file, or only selected entities of the currentpart.

Skip Persistent ID Generation for the Export to Pro/ENGINEER — It is nowpossible to skip the generation of persistent ID's during the export ofa part to the Pro/ENGINEER format. By default, the function is set togenerating ID's.

ICEM View Mode — ICEM DDN can be run in the ICEM Viewstation mode byspecifying the preset parameter view at the startup, e. g.: icemddn ttview. In ICEM View mode, all Part File Export options as well asAdvanced Design, NC, and Part Preview features are disabled. Basicgeometry and data verification functionalities are still available inthis mode, but you cannot save any modifications. For this mode, ICEMDDN requires a separate ICEM View license, it will not use the standard"DD" license.

Zoom and Dynamics (Alt Key) on Windows Platforms — Zoom and Dynamics viathe Alt key are now also available on Windows platforms. When the leftAlt key is pressed, the graphics switches to Dynamic mode and when it isreleased, this mode is quit. Between pressing and releasing the left Altkey, all kinds of dynamic manipulation tasks can be performed.When pressing the right Alt key, the graphics is zoomed out. Whenreleasing it, the original zoom scale is restored.

German Keyboard Support — ICEM DDN now supports German keyboards. To usea German keyboard you need to set the system keyboard to German and theenvironment variable ICEM_KEYBOARD to the value GERMAN.

Menu choices will be carried out in the same way as with an Englishkeyboard. Trace files are compatible between different keyboards, i. e.a trace file created using an English keyboard will work with a Germankeyboard, and vice versa. Existing tablets, trace files and Mstringswill also work as usual.

The following characters can be entered by pressing the corresponding keys: ö, Ö, ä, Ä, ü, Ü, ß, µ. These characters may be used for specialsymbols such as the surface texture symbols, dimensions, notes, andlabels.

Modal to Override Last Point Method for Dynamic Point Method — A sessionmodal has been introduced to override the last point method for theDynamic Point method. This modal can be set by invoking the Global ModalInterrupt. It can be set with one of the following options:

Changing REL/REV to 5.0 and Exporting to 3.4.04 Format — All part filesthat are written from ICEM DDN, as well as translators and utilitieswill have the REL/REV level set to 5.00. A new menu is provided toexport to 3.4.04 format.

ANSI Drafting

Edit in Graphics Area — The text editing method EDIT IN GRAPHICS AREA(F.16.1.18.1) has been improved. It is now possible to navigate in anote/label and to highlight parts of it u
